The stitches used in my "metallic glass" designs are the same as those used in
Basic Cross-stitch. However, working with metallic braid is a little different
than regular embroidery floss. Here are a few tips to make your "metallic"
stitching adventure a pleasant one...
• Use short lengths (18" or less) to avoid excessive wear when pulling thread
through the fabric.
• Use a large enough needle to 'open' the hole in the fabric to allow the thread
to pass through more easily.
• You may wish to moisten the braid slightly to relax the thread and reduce
twisting and knotting.
• Let your needle dangle frequently to untwist the thread.
• Use the 'stab' method of stitching, instead of the sewing method.
• Threading Technique - cut a small strip of paper and fold it in half. Fold the
paper over the end of the thread, insert the fold through the eye of the needle
and pull the paper through bringing the thread with it.
